Rich is a Hornell native, and a proud member of H.H.S class of 1974. He earned his Bachelors Degree in History from the University at Buffalo and has has been employed by the City of Hornell as a Water pollution control plant operator since 1980. Rich's wife Lisa is a math teacher at the Hornell High School. They have have two children Richie, age 16 and and Isabel, age 12.
There were a great many teachers in Rich's school experience that he would love to thank for their guidance in the Hornell schools. Chickie Herrick, Don Koehler, John Arnault and especially Jane Jamison taught their subjects, but they also taught life lessons that are valuable to him every day.
Rich's special interest in education policy is the effect poverty has on limiting success for our neediest students. "America is still the land of opportunity". We need to share opportunity with the widest segment of our society possible. Rich believes the future of the nation depends upon our success or failure in retooling our schools to produce graduates who are solid citizens equipped to take their place in society as we enter the information age.
