The Assistant to the Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction

Our office strives to provide resources to all teachers and administrators at the Hornell City School District.

The Goals for Hornell City School are:

• High level of learning for all students
• Skillful leadership in every building
• Quality teachers in every classroom

Hornell City School teachers participate in Board of Education approved staff development iniative that support our district goals.

Teachers access the registration process through the TIMEKEEPER link.

Among the focused offerings are:

Thoughtful Education – Strategy Workshops, Curriculum Unit Design & Learning Styles

6 + 1 Traits of Writing

Columbia University's Readers and Writers workshops

GST BOCES provides Hornell City School District with curriculum writing support two days per week.

All of our teachers participate in meeting with their Learning Clubs.

Learning clubs K – 6 are designed around grade levels, while the 7 – 12 grade club focus is interdisciplinary. The clubs meet monthly to design lessons using strategies from our “Thoughtful Education” workshops with Harvey Silver. The club member’s team teaches and analyzes the success of the lessons. “Thoughtful Education” consultants provide ongoing guidance to club facilitators.
